Open Meetings
Open meetings, sometimes called shoulder to shoulder events, are shot on a single range, often over one or two days, usually at weekends. It will always be more difficult to raise support for open meetings due to the travelling involved. The journeys required are often considerable, sometimes necessitating an overnight stay in hotels. Details of open meetings are posted on the competition notice board in the clubroom as and when they are available.
Club Championship
This competition is shot annually and covers most of the disciplines currently shot by club members. At the moment we have individual competitions for Sporting Rifle, Benchrest Rifle, Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Gallery Rifle and Black Powder Pistol. Points are awarded for winner and runner-up in each event (except Gallery Rifle) and the member with the most points is declared overall champion. In the future we are hoping to include competitions for a junior champion and a ladies champion as well.
Penrhiwpal S.C. Badge Competition
This is an internal competition that can be shot at any time and is open to members and probationary members. Members declare their targets to the duty officer at the club and s/he initials their targets before shooting. If they achieve a qualifying score they can buy an embroidered badge for their shooting jacket.
